White Death

This morning at 4:50AM I received a text..."2 hr delay". Then at 5:44AM another text..."NO SCHOOL". I looked out the window expecting to see a blizzard...not a single snowflake in sight. What in the world? I turn on the TV to see if I should run out and bring in more provisions for the snow storm of the decade. This is what I read...

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UNTIL THURS JAN 07 2010 12:00EST

SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS THIS AREA THIS MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY. DAYTIME ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 1-4 INCHES. SNOW WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THIS EVENING AND THEN TAPER OFF AFTER MIDNIGHT. STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE 3-6 INCHES.

SOME OF THE SNOW LATE MORNING AND EARLY EVENING WILL FALL DURING A VERY BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME. 1-2 INCHES OF ACCUMULATION WILL OCCUR IN A THREE HOUR WINDOW...REDUCING VISIBILITY TO NEAR ZERO AT TIMES.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITY...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

Michael is beyond thrilled to say the least. His morning breakfast menu...Snowman Soup, a hunk of gingerbread house and two sausage links. I have taken up residence at the kitchen table...Wammy Doppler...to keep tabs on the accumulation totals, short order cook, (South of The Border Chicken Chili in the crock pot) and DOT lookout. I have my Mocha Jo, wool socks and tube sock heating pad tucked in the bottom back of my sweatshirt...camera and phones handy...ready for whatever Mother Nature sends our way. Oh how I love me a good SNOW DAY!

FYI...While Sarah was fixing her breakfast she realized that Michael had a Snow Day. At 10:19AM I get a call from her from work...'Mom, I don't think I am going to be able to make it to school." My comments in a nut shell, "Oh yea you will."
