River Rats

I know that the names doesn't sound too great...but what fun we had digging around on the river yesterday.
Dewey, Betsy and I took some bread over to Betsy's Dad's for the pigs. I love going over there and climbing up and down the hills and looking for cool things for Betsy's yard. It is so much fun. And her Dad is the sweetest thing. He always has sweet tea, a smile and something to show me when I get there. This week we were not looking for anything in particular...well, maybe some old cobblestones. Seems years and years ago downtown Cincinnati's streets were paved with cobblestones. Somewhere along the line someone decided to take them all up. Where do you dump all those cobblestones? I can only imagine how many there were. Betsy's Dad knew right where they were on the river bank. We were just going to go look to see if we could find them. HA! I had no water, no bug spray, no gloves, no epi pen...but that didn't matter. We were on an adventure for sure! We walked down a road next to the river. Saw nothing. Someone decided that we should go up into the woods. Okay, I'm game.We looked for awhile and then stumbled on some cool moss covered really big sandstone (we think) boulders.
I am hoping that our next trip will be the day that Mark is off. I plan to take his muscle, a shovel, a pick and the refrigerator dolly and dig a couple of those things up and maybe throw in a pillar or two. It certainly won't take much to overload the truck.
All of a sudden Betsy looked own and we were standing right in the middle of "cobblestone graveyard". They were everywhere. I wish I could have had a video of us screaming and running around in the bushes. I am sure it would be really funny. First we piled them. Then we rolled the individually down the hill as far as we could...those suckers are heavy. Dewey went to get the truck and we carried them down to the road. While we were waiting for Dewey...we hit another jackpot. We don't even know what to call them. All I know is that they look cool in the gardens.

So I am counting down the days until Mark is off again. Maybe this trip we can sweet talk the drive to stop at the 'place that has really good fish sandwiches'. What do you say Mark...you up for the challenge?
