Mother Nature At Her Worst

I don't have any idea what time it was last night but a big crack of thunder rocked the house. Since I have been working in the yard nonstop in 90 degree plus heat, once I had showered and put on my pj's as soon as I hit the bed I was out. I have been sleeping like a log. When I heard the loud noise I just rolled over. I went to take Ella out for her morning stroll and sniff around the yard and this is what met me on the patio. I thought...hmmm big storm. When I looked up I thought something looked a little strange. Everything was green...where was Victor's house? Then I saw this...a huge tree with roots as big around as me, had fallen, been struck by lightening...who knows. It took down several trees with it. I honestly can't see the house behind me. I started the cleaning up process. I have been burning all day. We raked. We picked up sticks. We cut the grass. When I went around the back of the barn to get something , this is what I saw. Another tree down in our neighbors yard. Only this time it fell into their yard instead of John and Renee's. I was thanking my lucky stars because if it had fallen the opposite way our barn would have been history! I decided then that last night the angels were holding hands dancing around our entire yard. We only had leaves and small twigs. The people on our street weren't as lucky. At least 10 houses from our house to the main road had damage...big damage...as in loss of trees. John and Renee lost two gazebos and a limb. This is how bad the wind blew...check out that fork that is tied around the tree. I have been working to untangle this all day. In maybe a few hours I will be finished.
