First trip to the park

Right after school and a quick lunch...in between picking up Sarah from school...Michael and I filled our water bottles and loaded our bikes in the car and zipped to the park. Yesterday the high was in the low 70's. It was so nice. But we did have to petal against some of those WI feeling winds. You know, the kind that almost blow you off your bike. The ones that you have to stand up and petal to make and lee way. We didn't get very far when Michael said he needed to stop and get a drink of water. He was also wondering where the snacks were. (The whole idea for the bike ride is to burn calories for both of us) He said that "the next time we should bring some carrots. The are small and will fit in my bag." Okay by me.You can see that he takes his water bottle drinking very serious. I think the entire path is a mile ...we don't get but from bench to bench before we have to stop. This time his hands were getting sweaty.Michael loves to sit on the table and look out over the lake. When you do this the ducks that make their home at this lake, think you have come to feed them. Again, next time, we need to bring some old bread. (We never have old bread...we can't keep enough of it in the house) You might be wondering what he is pointing at...well, just wait...I have spared you from looking at 85 duck pictures. 'We' have sorted through them and come up with four that we decided were really good.

Now, I have saved the best for last. Just a sweet short story. I am watching Michael ride through the puddles...back and forth, back and forth...when an older lady...older that me...walking her big bull dog, smiles and says that it is nice to see a little one enjoying the puddles so much. She went on to reminisce about when her son was small and that was exactly what he always did. She told me that the back of his jacket would be all wet. I just smiled and nodded. She went on with her walk. Michael went on riding. And I just sat and continued to enjoy being outside. We had to get back to the car to pick up Sarah from school.
When we passed our new friend I asked her if he had made a pretty good racing stripe. She smiled great big and said it was the best one she had seen in a long time.
