Thursday...
Today we made another trip to Wal-Mart and a few more trips to Home Depot...and around here everyone helps...
Ellis was in charge of putting dirty clothes down the shoot...Cassie is going to wish she had one in her house in CO. With all our chores completed a little family fishing trip was in order...but first back to Wal-Mart for a fishing license and more pacies, and of course snacks. We had so much extra stuff that my Dad said we needed one of those carts to carry all of our stuff in. We managed okay...got lots of looks from all the other people that were fishing. Peep was all set up on the picnic table and began giving Michael his first lesson in fishing. Michael listened for a few minutes and then was off looking for the snacks. Poor Stitch, the dog, it was so hot and he hardly had any shade.
Michael and I have been practicing casting in the backyard. He doesn't do too bad with his little plastic fish but Peep didn't trust his around all of us with a read sinker and hook...so he would cast out and then let Michael hold the pole for a little while until it got "boring"...then tried to talk us into letting him go after more snacks...As you can see, Michael must have thought that this fishing thing was going to be way more fun than it was at the time this picture was taken. I think he thought that he was going to be pulling in the big ones just like he has seen on TV. Well, to say the least, that didn't happen.
I caught the first one after losing about three worms to a little blue gill. I finally hooked one and let Michael reel it in. He was pretty excited about that one. But when Peep pulled in a bigger and more colorful fish he went nuts. He even touched it. You'll have to go to Cassie's blog to read the rest of the story because while I was fishing she was taking all the pictures. I had a great time and plan to go back tons more. I know that Cassie will probably never go fishing ever again in her life. But I can remember days when we would go fishing at Dale Hollow Lake in Tn. and Cassie and Emmy would tear the worms in half and lay them all over the boat to dry out...talk about gross.
