SPRING BREAK
I guess that you could call this Spring...the weather has been crazy, yet again. Warm, thunderstorms with hail and howling winds, in the 20's at night...must I go on?
Emmy found out that UC students get a discount at the fabric store so she has decided that we should make receiving blankets for all her mother-to-be friends. We have been working until 11PM all week to see how many we can finish...we even had made a few over the shoulder burp rags that match each of the blankets. They are so cute. You all will wish you could have some.
She also found a pattern of sorts for sundresses. So far we have pinned and sewed a side seam in one. I am supposed to be hemming it as I write. But I decided to take a little break from the basement. Sarah had a rescheduled track meet this week in Norwood. But the problem was...thunderstorms and lightening in the area...so it was totally cancelled after the teams had been there for a few hours. But,, hey, what's a few hours with friends.....Our good friends from WI were supposed to leave 4AMish on Thursday morning but had to delay their departure time because of 7 inches of snow! But they made it in record time...got here before dinner on Thursday night...and Yvonne said that she only went the speed limit...I don't believe that for one minute.
At lunch on Thursday Michael lost a tooth , his first, in his bologna sandwich. That thing had been hanging there for a week.
Hannah is trying one of Cincinnati's favorites..a three way from Skyline. She said it was good and she would have another one another day.
The boys had their own little table..I'd hate to have to have cleaned up after them. Michael had lunch of oyster crackers and "Seventeen". I think he finally ate his hot dog. Yvonne would kill me if I put her picture in...but she did have a cheese coney, and yes she had the cheese everywhere. But that is how you are supposed to eat them...the messier the better. We made the trip across the parking lot for UDF ice cream. YUM YUM!
You might be asking yourself.."why are these children posed by a big tree?" The answer is simple...we went geocaching. We are given a map with clues and GPS coordinates. Then the treasure hunt begins. Once you locate the cach you are to take an object and leave an object. Only one problem for us, we have no GPS to help us pinpoint the hidden treasure so we have to depend on our combines intelligence. We searched yesterday for three different caches, but found nothing. The kids were a little bit disappointed. But we did get to take a nice stroll along the Little Miami river, climb some trees and be outside to run off some energy. Maybe another day. We came home and had a taco dinner and then watched "HOOT". Saturday was supposed to be our FUN DAY. We drove to West Chester to see a Kite Show...but it was cancelled due to rain and cold weather.
So we drove back to Penn Station for lunch, a quick trip to Kroger so Yvonne could pick up some Montgomery Inn Sauce for "Dale." We ended up eating lasagna for dinner and watching How To Eat Fried Worms. Then it was off to church at Emmy's church, Crossroads. Once again back home in our "Majamas", as Michael calls them, we watched Flushed Away. Michael was enthralled by the rats living in the sewer and he wanted to know how all that worked. Very lengthy discussions during the movie which drove everyone crazy...lots of shhhhing going on.
So, it is the last day of Spring Break and we will be trying to get back to a normal schedule around here. The McGilvary's just called, they are in Indy trying to make it home for DJ to go ice skating and Kyle to religion class. We've made the search of the house and found nothing remaining to be sent back to WI. Michael is getting ready to go to Luke's birthday, Mark is entrenched in his chair in front of his laptop and Sarah is somewhere hiding to get out of work. We had a great time with a CheeseHead friends and are looking forward to when they come back in the summer. Hopefully Dale will come so we can go to a Reds-Brewers game. Miss you guys already!
