Easter Weekend 2007

It sure hasn't felt like Spring...we have had temps in the 20's at night and snow flurries in the day. So we are trying to keep the plants from freezing and keeping ourselves bundled up and warm inside. We have been waiting on these visitors all week. The Fischer's are from WI. They are on their way to Harper's Ferry, WV for a camping vacation. They were kind enough to swing by Cincinnati to see us. So we had to take them around some of the high points of the "Big City". Our first drive by was the All-American Ballpark and the Bengals stadium. Next we had an adventure...trying to find parking around Fountain Square for a 15 passenger van during a Reds home game. After several passes by the fountain we found a spot about two blocks away. In less than 20 minutes we walked briskly to the Square, looked at the fountain, got wet by the wind and the fountain, threw change in the fountain and made wishes. Then it was off for some of Cincinnati's famous Cheese Coneys at Skyline. One funny story....we all needed to make a trip to the little girls room...check out this picture and tell me what seems out of place...Other than the fact that Michel is in the girls bathroom...if you look closely you will see a mustard container on the sink behind the kids...the hand soap was in it. The kids all thought that was the funniest thing. After a few coneys we were on the road again back to Blue Ash Holiday Inn. I must confess that I had to call Emmy because I wasn't totally clear on the directions. I had all but one turn right and I know that I could have figured it out sooner or later but I felt bad for Randy...he had just driven about 10 hours from WI to Cincinnati and then all around downtown. But we made it back without any wrong turns. The kids got to go swimming which Michael loved! I wish I had taken pictures...Michael was a submarine complete with a periscope. By the time we got home he was pooped. I think he must has swallowed 4 gallons of water from the pool...we were up all night ..if you know what I mean...Sarah and Michael colored eggs and the Easter bunny hid them and even more with candy in them. Once Michael found out that the plastic eggs had chocolate in them , he was on the search 110%. He found places to look that the EB never even considered. He would hunt and find a few then stop to eat a few...that's my kind of hunter! I guess you are never too old to get an Easter basket. Emmy called to see if the EB was going to leave her a basket...you have to spend the night where your basket is delivered...so after everyone was in bed the magic happened. Emmy was able to help the EB hide eggs. She is a tough hider. When you see or talk to Sarah be sure to ask her about the two special money eggs. We had decided to go to Emmy's church for Easter this year. Michael loved the Kids' Club. He amazes us daily with the things that he can remember and the things that he says. We were asking him how he liked his class. He said he liked it and that they had trains....that sold him, he is ready to go back next week. He had a plastic egg in his hand. We asked him what it was and he proceeded to tell us about the story that they had told the children in class. Inside the eggs was a piece of rawhide..."they hit Jesus with it when He was in jail"...a piece of cloth..."they wrapped Him in it when He was dead"...a rock..."He moved it away to get out"...a cross.."He hung on it and died". We all were pretty impressed with that.We had Easter Dinner at home..the menu..pork tenderloin with special Parmesan potatoes, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, broccoli-cauliflower salad, hot rolls, sweet tea, and Michael's request, Tini's cookies. She makes the best cake batter cookies you will ever eat! Michael LOVES them. They even had EB sprinkles..or jimmies as they call them here. After dinner the we finished watching The Master's. Bryce and Tini went to the BoatHouse to have dinner with Tini's family. Emmy, Sarah and I had movie afternoon with The Pursuit of Happyness. What a great day! Now it is on to enjoy Spring Break and look for the McGilvary's to pull into the driveway!

Wow, That sounds like a wonderful Easter. I know the Fischers had a great time with you. We can't wait to get there and get away from this Wisconsin weather. Four inches of snow and still counting.
